Extension Policy

An extension may be requested by a student with a need for more time to complete all assignments in the course due to compelling or compassionate circumstances.  Compelling or compassionate circumstances may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serious illness
  • Serious illness or death of an immediate family member
  • Serious injury
  • Military leave or deployment – spouse
  • Natural disaster
  • Unavoidable technical delays

To request an Extension, the student must complete a Request for Extension form prior to their program end date.  When reviewing a request for extension, additional information or documentation from the student may be required.  Once the student’s request has been received and it has been confirmed the student is in good standing, the Instructor will email the student an invitation to complete the Extension Request Form via online signature, which must be submitted prior to the program end date or the invitation’s expiration date, if applicable.  A copy will be maintained in the student’s file.  Any applicable extension payments must be processed prior to the expiration of the program so that there is no lapse in access to the course.

A student in good standing will:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the program and timeline by regular course attendance and logins, consistent submission of coursework, and consistent communication with their instructor
  • Be achieving proficiency
  • Have no outstanding financial obligations
  • Have current (not expired) access to the program for which they are requesting access.

A student may request extensions in full-month increments.  Students should evaluate their Course Schedule, remaining assignments, financial considerations, and personal situation when determining the amount of time to request.  AHDPG reserves the right to amend the duration of a student’s extension request for reasons including but not limited to the designed length of the program.  In order to achieve maximum benefit from the curriculum, consistency in attendance and submission of work in accordance with the Course Schedule is of utmost importance; therefore, it is not our policy to grant multiple extensions within the program.  If a student does not complete the program in which the extension was granted by the new completion date, the student may be withdrawn from the course and forfeit all amounts paid for tuition, books, materials, and fees.

The fee for an Extension is $195 (per 30 days of extension granted), payable upon approval of the extension.  For students enrolled in one of the monthly payment options, regular payments will continue throughout the extension period in lieu of the $195 fee.

NOTE:  An Extension does not suspend one’s financial obligation to the program.
